One Direction can add one big thing to their Midnight Memories, the UK boy band have achieved its third No. 1 album!
According to Billboard, the "Story of my Life" group is the first act in history to have its first three albums debut at the top of the charts. As if that wasn't enough to make Harry, Niall, Liam, Zayn and Louis crack a smile, the huge numbers for Midnight Memories are also quite impressive. The album sold an astonishing 546,000 copies, making it one of the biggest sellers of 2013 and notching 1D's biggest week to date.
Of course, One Direction wasn't the only band to sell albums this week. Eminem's most recent effort, The Marshall Mathers LP 2 still looms near the top of the charts in its fourth week. MMLP2 came in at No. 2, clocking in an impressive 199,000 copies.
Country classic Garth Brooks' new Walmart box set Blame It All On My Roots was released on Thanksgiving Day and sold 164,000 copies, thanks in much part to the messy day of the year known as Black Friday. Coming in at No. 3, the record is expected to vault to No. 1 next week after selling for a full seven days.
Brooks and One Direction are the lone new music on the Billboard 200 top 10 this week.
Other fare remains familiar. The Duck Dynasty Robertson family's Duck The Halls came in at No. 4 with 137,000 albums sold, and Kelly Clarkson's Christmas album also saw increased sales with 131,000 (No. 6). Coming in between the two holiday releases is Katy Perry's Prism, which moved 136,000 copies thanks to Black Friday sales at Target and Amazon.
Lady Gaga's Artpop also saw significant gains, selling 116,000 copies and coming in at No. 7. Luke Bryan returned to the top 10 with Crash My Party at No. 8 (109,000). Miley Cyrus' Bangerz, which sold for $7 at Target, rose seven spots to No. 9 (79,000 copies).
Finally, Now 48 sold 77,000 copies, rounding out the top 10.
