Kendall Jenner's rumored boyfriend Harry Styles wants One Direction to ditch pop music sound for rock songs after 'Midnight Memories'?

According to some interesting new reports, the members of One Direction are apparently arguing over the future of the band, namely the genre of music in which the songs should be. Some insiders are claiming that heartthrob Harry Styles hopes to become more of a rock group whereas Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Niall Horan are trying to maintain the group's pop sound. Could this rumored debate cause some problems for the boy band?

"Harry loves being in the band and respects and loves his bandmates. But he's very ambitious and thinks they should be growing up more and becoming more credible," The Daily Star's inside source stated. "Their third album Midnight Memories was already a lot less pop but Harry wants to push it further."

This insider is definitely right about the latest One Direction album, Midnight Memories. The second single off of the 2013 record, "Story Of My Life," is proof enough of the band's evolving sound. It is highly possible that Harry liked it so much that he feels it's a solid formula for the future.

The source added: "He thinks their next album is the perfect time to create a much edgier and more rock 'n' roll image and he's already writing songs that he wants them to include on the record."

His mind reportedly on the future, it looks like Kendall Jenner's rumored boyfriend is really trying to become a legitimate rock star!

"The problem is the rest of the band fear if Harry starts changing their style he's going to take over the whole thing," the source said. "Niall and Louis especially are worried about turning their backs on a pop sound and changing a winning formula. "

One Direction definitely has a grasp on a "winning formula," so too much change, especially a genre jump, could be a little frightening for some of the members.

But the source added another frightening point:

"The fear is that if Harry doesn't get his way he could end up walking out and going solo."

If this rumor is true and the boys are fighting over this change in sound, Harry Styles could look towards a solo career! Yes, this is an entirely different rumor, but it isn't too far fetched.
