In case you haven't heard, Mizzou player and top 10 defensive-end prospect Michael Sam came out as gay to several news outlets. In the high likelihood that Sam is drafted into the NFL, he will become the first openly gay professional football player in the history of the sport.
While the Internet at large was littered with hateful, ignorant comments like this...
Michael Sam will now be now be looked at as a national hero. Still does nothing for the fact that he is a fag.

...current and former NFL players as well as members of organizations have been lining up to support Sam.
Good for Michael Sam.. Hopefully this'll inspire others to be comfortable and proud of who they are

There is no room for bigotry in American sports. It takes courage to change the culture.

Yes, that Richie Incognito. When even he thinks that you are being hateful, maybe it's time to reevaluate your position.
Sam revealed his sexuality (although he wasn't keeping it a secret) to several news outlets yesterday.
"Once I became official to my teammates, I knew who I was," Sam said, according to the New York Times. "I knew that I was gay. And I knew that I was Michael Sam, who's a Mizzou football player who happens to be gay. I was so proud of myself and I just didn't care who knew. If someone on the street would have asked me, 'Hey, Mike, I heard you were gay; is that true?' I would have said yes."
