Matt Smith officially left the Doctor Who world (though his voice might come into play in 2014) after Peter Capaldi replaced him in the 2013 Christmas Special, "The Time of the Doctor." Though he's gone, he's still in contact with showrunner Steven Moffat and he reportedly had one important request for the upcoming episodes: Don't give him my wife!

For fans of the series (Whovians), we're all aware that Alex Kingston played the incomparable River Song, also known as the Doctor's wife. This was one of the most complex plotlines of the series, but it was amazing to watch it play out. Smith, though humbled by the experience and happy to hand over the reigns to Capaldi, doesn't want the magic shared with Kingston to be shared with another!

While appearing at New Orleans Comic-Con, Smith explained: "I said this to Steven, I was like, 'Listen, just don't. Just not Alex. Anyone else but don't give him River'. But Peter is the Doctor now so hey, what can I do?"

"I think that Steven will be planning things that are going to unfold over years," Smith continued. "I think he'll reinvent the folklore and it will become Peter's folklore. But I am proud of the fact that Alex was part of number Eleven's life. My wife!"

Smith also spoke of his final appearance on the series that ultimately made his career. Reflecting on the regeneration scene, Matt revealed that he had no idea how it would turn out.

"I was quite surprised to see that was the take they used, cause I didn't think - I thought that they might use something else, because we did a lot of different takes and we did a lot of different versions of that ending, and a lot of them were really troubling, and I quite liked them," he said. "I'm going to get in trouble now from them, 'Why are you talking about Doctor Who when you've left?'."
