Lupita Nyong'o's first movie role in 12 Years a Slave led to her first Academy Award nomination and win for Best Supporting Actress, but new reports are proving that her career has yet to peak. According to some Star Wars insiders, Episode VII director J.J. Abrams has been meeting with Nyong'o for a leading role in the December 18, 2015, release.
This news comes from the movie news breakers over at Latino Review, who have been reporting some of the best updates on this project and others. The website says that Nyong'o could be cast as a Sith in the upcoming blockbuster, which means she'll have some scenes with Adam Driver of Girls who was recently cast in the film in a villain role. Though if you're familiar with the Star Wars Sith rules, there can only be a master and an apprentice. There is a chance one of these stars could be some other type of villain, but we'll definitely have to wait and see what casting and character news is confirmed as the release date approaches.
When contacted about this casting news, Lupita's representatives said, "We're not allowed to talk about that." This of course makes us think that the meetings with Abrams are real since they referred to them as "that." Though we could just be hoping a little too hard for this casting news.
