According to a new interview with Tommy Chong, he and his comedy partner Cheech Marin of the iconic stoner movie franchise are developing a new film with the team behind Super Troopers. We could be seeing a new Cheech and Chong film in the near future now that Broken Lizard member Jay Chandrasekhar is talking about it with the stars.
"He's working a script right now for us," Chong told celebstoner.com. "We've had some preliminary meetings. It looks really good. It looks really funny. It will be about us going to a festival called the Burning Joint. All sorts of shenanigans happen. It's going to be a lot of fun."
"They came at us with a rough idea and now they're fleshing it out and making it into a budgetable script," Chong added. "We could start shooting this summer."
This would be the first official film from the duo, under the Cheech and Chong name since 1983's Still Smokin. Last year, an animated Cheech and Chong movie based on the duo's 1970s comedy routines.
"It was not done with our involvement," Chong said of the animated movie. "They animated the old records. I thought for what they had it was great. We didn't have to write anything. All Cheech and I had to do was look at it and go yea or no. I liked it."
