Earlier this week, CBS's The Late Show host David Letterman announced his retirement from television in 2015. While we have about a year or so until he signs off for the last time, some fellow personalities have already started dedicating some time on their own shows to pay tribute to Dave. One in particular is a friend of Dave's, ESPN's Keith Olbermann, who compared the Late Show host to Babe Ruth in that he is the best at what he does.
"All I keep thinking is I'm watching Babe Ruth telling us he's going to stop playing baseball," Olbermann said after a great little anecdote about Dave coming into ESPN's headquarters to watch car racing events.
His baseball metaphor continued throughout his tribute segment, but what we really got out of it was just how amazing Dave is and always was. Olbermann told his audience about the "hands down" highlight of his career, sitting next to Dave during an impromptu Late Show appearance a few years back.

"I think it will be at least a year or so, but sometime in the not too distant future, 2015 for the love of God, in fact, Paul [Shaffer, band leader] and I will be wrapping things up," Letterman said in his retirement announcement. "I want to reiterate my thanks for the support from the network, all of the people who have worked here, all of the people in the theater, all the people on the staff, everybody at home, thank you very much."
