We all miss Matt Smith. His tenure on BBC's hit series Doctor Who will surely remain in the hearts of his fans as Peter Capaldi takes over this year, and any others that come along in the future. Considering the hole left in our lives without him, British television network WATCH is airing a special to say good-bye to the actor properly: Doctor Who: Farewell to Matt Smith.
"It never really grows old," Smith says in a new preview clip, thanking fans. "I know it won't last forever so I try and live in the moment."
Check out some brief interviews with cast members and guest stars, all praising the young actor that won the hearts of countless fans.
Digital Spy reports:
The UK premiere retrospective is a fond look back at Smith's time on the sci-fi series, narrated by co-star Alex Kingston. Highlights from the actor's four-year journey in the TARDIS are intertwined with anecdotes from Smith and his predecessor David Tennant, plus other cast members, writers, producers and celebrity Doctor Who fans.
Smith recently spoke about his final scene as the Doctor in 2013's Christmas Special, explaining his regeneration was not the one he hoped would air.
'It's very interesting the Christmas episode and particularly the regeneration," Smith said when asked about his final on-screen appearance as the Doctor in the Doctor Who Christmas Special. ''We shot so many different versions of that - we shot much more brutal, emotional and troubling takes and stories in there. The actual take that is used is an interesting one for me."
By "interesting," he pretty much meant that he disagreed with the choice.
''But to be honest, although it's still a great Doctor Who episode, I think perhaps of what we shot and what was cut I would have chosen differently," he revealed.
