By now, all Doctor Who fans understand that Matt Smith desperately misses his iconic role as the eleventh Doctor. He's said time and time again that his decision to leave the popular series seemed right, but he's also shared some regret over this choice after his final episode, the 2013 Christmas Special. But now thanks to his appearance at WonderCon, the star of the upcoming film Lost River said he'd "happily come back" to reprise his role if asked.
This statement came up after a Q&A panel turned to his recent and historic 50th Anniversary Special that featured David Tennant reprising his role as the Tenth Doctor. Along with John Hurt as the mysterious "8.5" Doctor, it was quite the spectacle.
"It was a real historic moment for me," Matt said this week. "I always look at David and go, 'Oh my god. It's Doctor Who!'"
He continued: "David is a great guy and a good friend. It was so fun. Doctors in the same room is just magic, isn't it!"
Clearly the return of Tennant was a huge deal, so Smith entertained the idea of his own reprisal.
He announced: "I'll happily come back for another anniversary!"
Meanwhile, earlier this month Smith admitted that his regeneration scene was not the one he hoped would air in his last episode.
"[T]o be honest, although it's still a great Doctor Who episode, I think perhaps of what we shot and what was cut I would have chosen differently," he revealed.
