In the fall of 2014 season premiere of Fox's animated series The Simpsons, a character is going to be killed off. Since this announcement last year, speculation on which character it could be has erupted with no confirmation or denial from the cast or crew. But a new interview with producers Al Jean and Matt Selman has us even more excited because they compared the death to Game of Thrones.

"This is going to be a bigger deal than King Joffrey on Game of Thrones - the Yellow Wedding!" Jean said according to TV Line. "The character that dies is portrayed by an actor who won an Emmy for playing that character. People who reported on it then reported we were killing an 'iconic' character; I'd like to say it's a great character, but I never used the word 'iconic.' It's a terrific character and it [happens in] our premiere this coming year."

"We always have kind of a flexible reality," Jean continued, which of course has us thinking of the annual Halloween special as a possible one-off return for the character.

"What we told the performer is, 'This does not mean the end of your participation in The Simpsons,'" Selman added.

Though this interview has us a bit more excited for the reveal in a few months, it really doesn't help with whom it could be! The character was reportedly labeled "iconic" in the past so we should maybe look at some of the reoccurring characters, though who really knows what this goofy show is up to.
