Director Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained hit theaters on Christmas Day in 2012 and told the story of a free slave (Jamie Foxx) who tried to rescue his wife (Kerry Washington) from a slave owner named Calvin (Leonardo DiCaprio). But according to the director, the movie's story might not be done quite yet.
Tarantino told a crowd at Cannes Film Festival on Friday that he is considering putting together a four-hour miniseries version of his critically acclaimed Western, according to USA Today.
"I have about 90 minutes' worth of material with Django [that] hasn't been seen," Tarantino said. "My idea, frankly, is to cut together a four-hour version of Django Unchained...But I wouldn't show it like a four-hour movie. I would cut it up into hour chapters. Like a four-part miniseries. And show it on cable television. Show it like an hour at a time, each chapter.
"We'd use all the material I have and it wouldn't be an endurance test," he added. "It would be a miniseries. And people love those."
Django Unchained earned five Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. It won for Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Christoph Waltz.
Tarantino's other famous works include Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Inglorious Basterds and Jackie Brown.
What do you think, Tarantino fans? Would a Django Unchained miniseries make sense? What would be the content of the series? Would it show more of Kerry Washington's character in captivity, or more of Django as he searched for her? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments below.
