The 2014 FIFA World Cup officially kicks off in Brazil on June 12, so ESPN decided to celebrate a bit early with some amazing new promotional posters for the teams taking part in the world's biggest sporting event. Brazilian illustrator Cristiano Siqueria did an amazing job on each and every one of these posters, and we have a quick slideshow to prove it!
Using star players and very brief descriptions for each team, the artist really hit this project out of the park for ESPN. As you can see from the main poster used above as the header image, imagery and color played a big part in the concept designs.
Though we'd love to show you all of the posters, we chose a small handful of our favorites that we feel you'd enjoy most of all. We've included the host country's poster, Brazil, as well as Argentina's featuring Lionel Messi and Portugal's featuring Cristiano Ronaldo. There's also the fierce England squad poster showcasing a rough Wayne Rooney. Of course we had to include the USA squad poster, boasting "The Yanks" above stars Michael Bradley, Tim Howard and Clint Dempsey.
