In celebration of the official beginning of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, Visa launched a new sponsorship activation program entitled "United in Rivalry." Implementing resources like 1.4 million contactless terminals - the largest network of contactless terminals in the world - the company will bring together people from 104 countries all around the world in order to experience the World Cup in all of its glory. In fact, with some help from Nobel Prize Winners, Visa has shown that the World Cup affects us all in a very similar way.
That's right; just like most people around the world, even these Nobel Prize Laureates get as fired up about the biggest sporting event in the world!
"Our goal is to make it easy, engaging and relevant for everyone, everywhere, to connect to the FIFA World Cup and be part of the collective experience," Visa Inc.'s chief executive officer Charlie Scharf said accompanying this announcement. "From immersive fan engagement programs to innovative partnerships that help advance the next generation of payment technologies in Brazil, Visa is connecting more people than ever before with this momentous global event."
