Last weekend was a celebration of American independence, so movies were few and far between at theaters, but this weekend we're treated to one of the most anticipated flicks of the year, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes! Plus one of the most interesting movie projects of recent time, Boyhood, hits theaters after 12 years in the making! We have some other new releases to look at as well, so let's get started!
We don't need to get you too hyped for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. It is easily one of the biggest movies of 2014, so we'll assume you're just as excited as we are about this sci-fi sequel to 2011's Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Apparently this sequel is even better, taking on the story of how a diminishing human population decides to wage war against the intelligent apes that are slowly taking over the planet.
