Guitarist Jonny Greenwood Reveals Radiohead To Start Recording New Album In September

Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood announced the band will begin work on its 9th studio album in September during an interview on BBC Radio 6 on Saturday. 

While speaking to Mary Ann Hobbs, Greenwood said, "We're going to start up in September, playing, rehearsing and recording and see how it's sounding."

Greenwood dropped a vague yet similar bombshell during an interview with Nashville Cream in March. He said, "Well we're meeting up at the end of the summer, and we'll make a plan. But, you know, we're a slow-moving animal, always have been. I guess we'll decide then what we do next."

Radiohead's return to the studio comes after a considerable amount of band downtime for the boys - their last record, The King of Limbs, came out in 2011.

That's not to say the members of Radiohead haven't been keeping busy. Vocalist/Guitarist Thom Yorke has been playing and touring with Atoms For Peace, his side project with Flea and producer Nigel Godrich, while drummer Phil Selway recently announced plans to release a new solo album in October. 

Greenwood has been working as a film composer and has already scored two films for auteur Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood and The Master) and is working on a third (Inherent Vice) with the famed director.

Greenwood also plans to perform his score to There Will Be Blood live London this August. If all goes well, he will bring the production to New York.
