After his triumphantly successful series Breaking Bad came to an end last year, actor Bryan Cranston headed to Broadway to take on the role of President Lyndon B. Johnson in the biographical play All The Way. This proved to be a great career move, because Cranston ended up taking home a Tony Award for his performance. Now it looks like he'll be offered more awards because HBO Films has nabbed the rights to recreate the play for a TV movie. Plus Steven Spielberg is producing!

The play, written by Pulitzer Prize winner Robert Schenkkan, also took home the Tony Award for best play. It looks like this HBO adaptation could lead to Emmy Awards for the cast and crew, too. Schenkkan will pen the film adaptation.

Spielberg's relationship with HBO definitely helped get this project moving along, but the network most likely saw the genuine interest from the public and the celebrity of Cranston as enough reason to push forward with this production.

Deadline reports:

All The Way gives a behind-the-scenes look at Johnson's tumultuous first year in office as he takes the oath in the wake of President Kennedy's assassination, navigates the escalation of the Vietnam War, and balances opposing interests to launch his landmark civil rights bill and win election to his first full presidential term. Cranston, again nominated for an Emmy for his acclaimed performance on AMC's Breaking Bad, will soon begin production on Jay Roach's Trumbo in the title role of Dalton Trumbo, the successful Hollywood screenwriter whose career came to an end when he was blacklisted in the 1940s McCarthy era for being a Communist.
