NBC's Peter Pan Live will air on December 4, 2014, with Christopher Walken playing Captain Hook, but the highly anticipated musical just cast the lead as well: Allison Williams! The Girls star joins a long line of female performers taking on the role of Neverland's hero, so we're excited to see the tradition continue this winter on NBC.
This broadcast is based on the 1954 Broadway musical, which featured songs like "I Won't Grow Up," and "I'm Flying." Characters yet to be cast include Wendy Darling, Tiger Lily, and Smee.
"I have wanted to play Peter Pan since I was about three years old, so this is a dream come true. It's such an honor to be a part of this adventure, and I'm very excited to get to work with this extraordinarily talented team," the actress said in a press statement following this announcement. "And besides, what could go wrong in a live televised production with simultaneous flying, sword fighting and singing?"
NBC head Robert Greenblatt also shared his excitement over the news in the press release.
"We couldn't be happier that Allison Williams is our Peter Pan," he exclaimed. "She's a lovely rising star on the award-winning show Girls - where she occasionally shows off her incredible vocal talent - and we think she will bring the perfect blend of 'boyish' vulnerability and bravado to save the day against Christopher Walken's powerful Captain Hook."
