Looks like the mind behind Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm is gearing up to tackle a new medium: Broadway. Showbiz411 reports that Larry David is writing (and plans to star in) a play titled Shiva.

"Shiva" refers to the Jewish period of mourning following a funeral.

While it was reported by the site back in January that David was writing a play, there were no solid facts outside of that. At the time, the comedian thought his once-upon-a-time writing partner Jerry Seinfeld may be involved, but now it appears to be different ... but that doesn't diminish our excitement at all. Let's be honest – LD live on Broadway? Can't go wrong!

Being produced by famed Hollywood personality Scott Rudin, who served as a producer for some play called Book of Mormon, Shiva is reportedly a "sure thing." Rudin is just coming off the craze of A Raisin in the Sun, which starred the legendary Denzel Washington.

David has pretty much dominated both television and film, with writing and starring in the renowned HBO series Curb Your Enthusiasm as well as the HBO film Clear History ... and yes, Sour Grapes, too.

And while the TV version of himself starred in The Producers as Max Bialystock in Season Four, Shiva will be the first time the real-life Larry David is appearing on the Broadway stage. Let's just hope it goes a little bit better than it did on Curb.
