Fans of HBO's new summer mystery drama, The Leftovers, can rejoice because as it's premiere 2014 season comes to an end in a few weeks, we'll have a whole second season worth of episodes to look forward to in 2015. This week, HBO announced the renewal of the series from creators Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta, based on Perrotta's book of the same name. With more episodes coming at us, we can definitely expect plenty more questions to arise!
The Leftovers stars Justin Theroux, Amy Brenneman, Christopher Eccleston, Liv Tyler, Chris Zylka, Margaret Qualley, Carrie Coon, Emily Meade, Amanda Warren, Ann Dowd, Michael Gaston, Max and Charlie Carver, and Annie Q. We're not sure who will return for the second season since the current lineup of episodes has been pretty bleak and dangerous.
"We are thrilled to bring back 'The Leftovers' for a second season with the exceptional talents of Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta," Michael Lombardo, president of HBO Programming, said, according to Variety. "It has been truly exciting to see the overwhelming response to their provocative and original storytelling. We look forward to continuing the journey as the show delves deeper into the lives of those who remain."
The show has received mixed reactions from viewers, but it looks like HBO is confident enough that fans will continue watching in 2015.
