'The Leftovers' Episode 9 Preview, 'The Garveys At Their Best' VIDEO [SPOILERS] What Can We Expect From The Penultimate Season 1 Episode?

There are only two more episodes left in season 1 of HBO's The Leftovers. Those of us familiar with 10-episode arches, especially on HBO, we all know that the penultimate episode is arguably the most important. Will that be the case for this weekend's "The Garveys at their Best" episode? What's up with that title and what will last week's twists mean for this week's story? [SPOILERS to follow]

We want to mention that HBO has not released any advance promo pictures or episode clips, and this has us so excited. As the season progressed, these teaser images and/or videos have deceased in number, clearly as to not spoil too much. But heading into the next episode blind is such an incredible feeling, especially for the fans of the series that love the confusion and intrigue the show has awakened.

Last week's episode had a huge twist that we might've seen coming, but nonetheless it was the most pivotal moment of the show. This week has a lot to live up to, so how will the series do it? It's hard to guess or speculate on what this series will throw at us next, so let's look at the preview trailer for the final episodes to at least get some sort of idea for the closing of season 1:

Meanwhile, episode 8 director Michelle MacLaren recently spoke to HBO about last week's episode. Let's see what she had to say about the final scene that left us all astonished.

"That image is heartbreaking and a contradiction of everything that's gone on between them," she said. "Kevin throws all the other conflicts away and he embraces her. He could have been a jerk and just stand there and watch her die, but that's not who he is. It speaks so much to his character. He didn't want her to die. It's a very vulnerable, heartbreaking position."
