Looks like Lorne Michaels & Co. are planning to kick off season 40 of Saturday Night Live with some big names!
It's crazy to believe that SNL has managed to last 40 years but that's the shocking truth. And with the upcoming 40th season kicking off Sept. 27, the NBC sketch show has just announced the first two hosts: Chris Pratt and Sarah Silverman, according to a tweet from the network.
It was previously rumored that former SNL player Bill Murray would help bring in the new season, followed by Silverman on the second episode and then Pratt, but it seems now the NBC series has officially announced Pratt as the sesaon premiere host along with musical guest Ariana Grande.
Very excited to announce our season premiere on Sept 27th will be hosted by Chris @prattprattpratt with music from @ArianaGrande!! #SNL40

This time last year Chris Pratt may not have been a likely choice for the host spot, but based on the fact that he took the theaters by storm in Guardians of the Galaxy, the Parks and Recreation star is totally fair game ... and a great choice!
And Sarah Silverman? Come on, always a joy! The Sarah Silverman Program star was a once-upon-a-time writer for the show (for one year) back in the '90s. She then left and eventually made an incredible career as a stand up comedian.
Looks like season 40 is starting off with a bang! Now, the question remains, will Bill Murray's rumored appearence be pushed back to later in the season, or will he merely not show up?
