Believe it or not, The Simpsons are celebrating their 25th Anniversary! And they're not doing it quietly. The famous cartoon family invaded the Hollywood Bowl this weekend with live performances, celebrities and recollections of the longest running primetime scripted TV show.
The Associated Press reports that Nancy Cartwright, Yeardly Smith and Hank Azaria hosted the world premiere of the "The Simpsons Take the Bowl" Dedicated fans are sure to know that those three actors are the voices of Bart and Lisa Simpson, Ralf, Moe, Apu and Chief Wiggum.
Members of the Hollywood Bowl orchestra wore tall blue wigs to represent Marge Simpson. During the two-hour program clips of The Simpsons illuminated audience members on the Bowl's jumbo screens.
Not only was the long running staff the attendees of the show, but also a slew of other celebrities came out to commemorate the success of the show. Jon Lovitz, Conan O'Brien and the Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles were all apart of the celebrating of the 31 Emmy award winning TV show.
As you can imagine, this was not a boring anniversary to attend. The theme of the night was in direct correlation with the show, it being fun, borderline politically incorrect and greatly spontaneous. Just imagine T-shirt cannons blasting every hou and mini-Duff air blimps floating above. It was basically a merchandising opportunity gone wild. However, if any show could pull something so amusing for all ages, it would be The Simpsons.
The Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles were amongst the favorite act of the night performing classic Simpsons songs, "See My Vest" and "Spider Pig"
The Simpsons will premiere its 26th season with the episode, "Clown in the Dumps," Sept. 28 on Fox.
