The King Kong origin story movie project, Skull Island, has found it's leading man in Tom Hiddleston. We all know him as Loki in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but his increasingly busy film schedule will surely make him as big of a Hollywood star as the rest. Skull Island has a release date set for November 4, 2016, and Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) is directing. Are you ready to see the giant gorilla take on some dinosaurs?
Considering the Peter Jackson remake of the classic movie monster film delved into the origin of King Kong a bit, a film going even deeper is sure to attract plenty of attention. Plus, what kind of character will Hiddleston portray? Perhaps a doomed explorer of some sort?
Either way, this is exciting news. In fact, Vogt-Roberts recently shared his excitement on Twitter:
Honored to join the @Legendary family. Brace for Skull Island!! pic.twitter.com/wufi6ejNwE

Here is an excerpt from the official press release about this project:
Legendary announced its plans to make a feature film based on the cinematic origins of King Kong during this year's San Diego Comic Con with an original draft of the script by Max Borenstein. Previous works have touched on the island, but staying on and exploring this mysterious and dangerous place offers Legendary the opportunity to take audiences deeper inside this rich world with a style and scope that parallels other Legendary productions. Universal Pictures will distribute the film on November 4, 2016.
