Russell Westbrook thought he had it all. He and Kevin Durant have finally seen the Miami Heat era through, and now it's their time to shine, or is it? Westbrook also recently proposed to Nina Earl, but it seems the newly engaged couple might be on the move, much to Durant's anger. There's talk of him being traded from the Oklahoma City Thunder, to the NBA legends the Boston Celtics with Rajon Rondo coming the other way. Does this trade make sense, or would OKC be messing with something good? The Thunder want an NBA title, but upsetting Durant ahead of free agency just might not work out too well, just ask LeBron James.
Durant and Westbrook have become one of the best duos in the NBA, but they've been unable to win a championship together. Rumours have also emerged suggesting that Rondo wants to be traded, and many teams feel he could give them an edge, making them a title contender. Rondo, despite being talented, is injury-prone, and has never reached the level of Westbrook. Also, Durant seems to love Westbrook, so surely this trade wouldn't help their team chemistry.
Boston, of course, could try and pad out any trade with draft picks and prospects, and that might seem appealing in some aspects, but that would take OKC from a contender to a playoff team. If they don't believe in the Westbrook/Durant combination, then sure, but would Rondo add that spark to top the likes of James and his Cleveland Cavaliers? Probably not.
What should the Thunder and Celtics regarding the future of their guards, and should they be traded for one another?
