The annual Stand Up For Heroes benefit occurs this coming Nov 5 at Madison Square Garden in New York City and is gearing up for a lengthy list of A-list talent, including Louis C.K., Bruce Springsteen, John Mulaney, John Oliver and Brian Williams, to name just some.
Now in its 8th year, Stand Up For Heroes aims to raise money for injured service members and their families as they attempt to "thrive long after they return to the home front," according to the event's site.
The event is organized by both the Bob Woodruff Foundation – an organization that also hopes to aid injured service members who often face "unemployment, depression, substance abuse, even suicide" after coming home from war – and the New York Comedy Festival.
FX's Louie star, creator, writer, director and editor Louis C.K. will perform at the event alongside Mulaney star, creator and writer John Mulaney, Last Week Tonight host John Oliver and NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams. The show will reportedly house "surprise guests" as well.
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be performing at Stand Up For Heroes as the musical headliner. The group has played at the event since its inception.
On the event, Woodruff told Rolling Stone, "We, as well as the show's talented performers, want to show our appreciation for and give back to the brave men and women who served our country and have come home injured. We are inspired and moved by the grand presence of all these groups on such an incredible night for us to commend and remember our heroes."
