"Blown Away" singer Carrie Underwood and husband Mike Fisher (who is a hockey player) announced that they are expecting their first child together in early September, and now the mother-to-be is talking about her happy news.
"It's still kind of weird, to be honest," Carrie said during an interview on the Today show this morning. "Sometimes I'll be with my husband and I'm like, 'I'm going to be a mom. You're going to be a dad. Like, is this real life?' But we're really excited."
Carrie announced her pregnancy by sharing a picture on her Instagram account with her two dogs. They were both wearing shirts that said, "I'm going to be a Big Brother" and "I'm going to be a Big Sister." The "Jesus, Take the Wheel" singer captioned the cute picture, "In honor of 'Labor' Day, Ace & Penny would like to make an appointment. Their parents couldn't be happier..."
A year ago, the 31-year-old singer told Marie Claire that she didn't think she was ready for children, but now she is excited and happy. "I don't feel old enough to have kids. I know I am mature, but being responsible for another human?" she told the publication.
Luckily, Carrie has a great role model to help her through her pregnancy... her mother. "I have a wonderful mother so if I can be even a little bit like that, I think that we'll be good," she told Today host Hoda Kotb.
If her mother's help and guidance isn't enough, Carrie and Mike already have a few babysitters lined up. "We told them we would babysit if they ever need us to, so we are here, give us a call," Kimberly Perry from The Band Perry told E! News after learning her dear friend was pregnant.
The American Idol alum also announced on the Today show that she will be releasing a greatest hits album titled Greatest Hits: Decade #1 that will feature new songs as well as her best songs.
