Last week we discovered that Juliette was pregnant, Rayna picked Luke and Scarlett was coming back to Nashville. This week's episode of Nashville focuses on the music and a little bit of drama!
"How Far Down Can I Go" starts with Rayna showing a reporter her new space for the Highway 65 label as she tries to promote her new album. Unfortunately all the reporter wants to hear about is her engagement to Luke, which she says is off limits.
Meanwhile, Deacon is really depressed about Rayna choosing Luke over him and it takes Scarlett's chipper attitude and a large cup of coffee to get him even a little bit presentable for his daughter Maddie's visit. In an adorable moment, Maddie and Deacon go on a father-daughter furniture-shopping trip. Maddie is in an bad mood and is taking out her frustration on her dad.
At Gunnar's house, Zoey is over and Gunnar asks her again to move in with him. She tells him she has to think about it. After panicking and then seeing Gunnar and Scarlett singing together (a beautiful song by the way) she changes her mind and tells him she will move in.
In Juliette world, the singer is preparing for her movie call back while trying not to focus on the fact that she is pregnant... most likely with Jeff's child. She freaks out at anything that reminds her of Avery or Jeff and can't stop panicking. Later on she goes to the audition and nails it. She is perfect for the role. As she leaves, the audition, she runs into Jeff and they have a chilly conversation before she walks away.
Jeff is on his way to the audition with Layla as a courtesy to Will, who has officially surpassed Rayna's album with his new record. He then meets Sadie Stone (played by Laura Benanti), a powerful female artist and it is clear that she will be the next artist he tries to land in hopes of keeping his job.
Back to Rayna, she is working with her sister Tandy to decide what they want to do with her father's things. Even though she is still mad at everything her father ever did to her, she realizes that there are parts of him inside her and she needs to accept it.
In an interesting turn, Layla tells Will that she now owns him and he has to do everything in his power to make her career a success. Because he ruined her life and told her his secret, she is going to use it to make her life better. Well played, Layla, well played.
Switching to Juliette, the singer has decided that she is going to purge Avery from her life. She takes all of his things to his apartment and he catches her leaving. They have another huge fight and officially end things. After she leaves, Avery goes to work and starts making out with the new girl.
In Deacon and Maddie news, the duo gets in a fight when Maddie yells at Deacon for not fighting for her mom. He tells her the truth and says he did fight for her. After getting over the initial shock of this information, Maddie says "How could she not have chosen you?" They hug each other and she adds, "I wanted it to be you so badly." Deacon says under is breath, "Me too sweetie."
We know that Rayna picked Luke, but there is no way her love story with Deacon is over. Especially now that Luke has decided to keep Deacon on his tour. Yes, Luke and Deacon are going to be traveling all over the place together even though they clearly hate each other right now.
In the final moments of the episode Tandy resigns from Highway 65 and tells Rayna that she is moving to California. Rayna then takes a plane to New York and does a talk show and performance. During the interview she breaks her own rule and reveals what Luke said to her when he proposed on stage. Luke Bryan then makes a cameo just to show off his handsome face and Rayna performs a song from her new album.
The last scene shows Juliette in the doctor's office preparing to get an abortion and forget about this terrible incident once and for all. While she is lying there the doctor tells her that she is not four weeks pregnant, she is actually eight weeks pregnant. This means it can't be Jeff's baby.... It is Avery's baby!
Tune in next week to see if Juliette tells Avery about her pregnancy!
