‘Once Upon A Time’ Actress Jennifer Morrison Talks Emma’s Friendship With Elsa And Channeling Her Magic In Season Four

Once Upon a Time returned on Sunday for its fourth season and Frozen came with it. Jennifer Morrison, who plays Emma Swan, is now opening up about what is happening to her character this season including how she will deal with Storybrooke newcomer Elsa (played by Georgina Haig).

"The crisis in the ice cave [in this week's episode], combined with the many similarities that they share, makes Elsa and Emma fast friends. Emma realizes quite quickly that Elsa is misunderstood and is just trying to get her sister back and get her powers under control," Jennifer told TV Line.

Elsa coming to town might be the best thing for Emma, especially when it comes to harnessing her magic. Emma is still playing around with her magic whereas Elsa knows how to use hers. "Elsa has a power inside of her that she's not sure what to do with and took her a long time to learn how to control and how to understand it," Jennifer explained to TV Guide.

"So Elsa's going to be a crucial friend to her in terms of how to start to focus that power and figure out what to do with it. But there's definitely going to be a bump in the road where Emma doubts herself a little bit about all of it."

Emma will spend a lot of time bonding with Elsa and learning her magical abilities this season but that isn't all she will be up to. Emma will finally dive into a potential relationship with Captain Hook (played by Colin O'Donoghue).

"Trying to figure out complicated dating issues in the midst of crazy chaos makes for some really funny things, some very serious things, some very heartbreaking moments, some very exciting moments. It really definitely turns dating into a true adventure," the 35-year-old actress teased in an interview with TV Line.

The couple will even have a first date this season where Hook will dress up and look a little less like a pirate. "He decides to make quite the effort for our first date," Jennifer revealed to TV Guide. Plus, there date with be "super romantic" according to the OUAT actress.
