Sex and the City is fabulous, fashion forward and full of sex. With all the rumors about another Sex and the City film, when Chris Noth, who played Mr. Big in the series, was asked about the show, no one expected his response. Chris called the one and only Carrie Bradshaw "such a whore."
While in Australia, Chris opened up about his role as Mr. Big and the truth about his character and some of the other characters we've all grown to love from the HBO series.
"In the beginning, Law & Order was the hit, but then when I did Sex and the City, that was a whole other thing. The reaction to that was just overwhelming and shocking, frankly. I don't think I've ever gotten over it — it completely changed my life. When I was younger I resented that — 'Oh, I've got to destroy that image' — but people want to see you as they want to see you," Chris told news.com.au.
Chris revealed that although Mr. Big was supposed to be the powerful and established man, he was flawed, which is why he was so real.
"Big was powerful because he had a lot of money and he seemed to have the upper hand in the relationship, but emotionally he was a wreck. Actually, no: He was what he was. One of the things I tell people is that he never tried to pretend he was anything other than what he was. It was [Carrie] who tried to pretend he was something he wasn't," the 59-year-old revealed to the publication.
The Good Wife actor admitted that Mr. Big gets a lot of flak for being such a bad guy to Carrie, but he was always honest, he just wasn't perfect, which is what she wanted. Plus, he was never someone other than the man he told her he was, which she always forgot. Plus, Carrie was actually the one who slept around, not Big.
"He was always honest about himself — he never cheated on her. The relationship just didn't work, and he went on to get married while she went on to — how many boyfriends did she have? She was such a whore!" he teased. "There's a misconception that Carrie was a victim of him, and that's not the case — she was a strong, smart woman."
Afraid that his "whore" comment may have been misunderstood, Noth issued a follow-up statement to the press, assuring fans of Carrie Bradshaw that his words were all in jest. "It's interesting that a show that was so fun and irreverent about everything has to be taken with such hysterical reverence when you talk to the media," Noth said. "Yes, of course it was a joke, but I keep forgetting that you are not allowed to do that with certain media."
As for a third Sex and the City film, Chris kept his mouth shut on whether or not there will be a third installment, despite the fact that costars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kristin Davis tweeted about a possible third film.
