After months of speculation around the casting of True Detective's season 2 leading characters and rumors surrounding a number of actors, Taylor Kitsch this week confirmed that he would round out the main 3 male leads of the HBO show. Kitsch joins Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn who were confirmed for the Nic Pizzolatto series' upcoming 2015 earlier this year. Now all of the speculation should be on the leading female actor(s).
Kitsch has a pretty great relationship with HBO, having starred in the network's made for TV movie The Normal Heart earlier this year. Read our review of this film here!
According to reports from numerous TV and movie news websites, including The Hollywood Reporter, Kitsch himself broke the news in a new interview with Adweek.
While the website states "[f]or the record from sources involved in the negotiations: the deal is close, but not complete," it looks like Kitsch has revealed that he's been preparing for this role all summer.
I've just been prepping. It's been almost a full year since I've been on camera, so I'm itching, man. I'm overdue," he told the publication. "I loved that first season of it so much. And it was so grounded. It could really happen. This is very similar, and I love that. It makes it more relatable. It makes these guys more real. Nowadays, it takes f-ing balls to stand by that and do it that way."
