If you were hoping to play Dying Light on your Past-Gen console when it hits shelves in early 2015, we have some bad news for you. According to reports and a post of Polish developer Techland's official Facebook page, this highly anticipated free-running zombie survival game will only be available on Next-Gen platforms PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. PC gamers will also be able to play this game. Sorry, Xbox 360 and PS3 users!
According to IGN, Techland's Facebook announcement explained the cancellation of Past-Gen development for Dying Light was due to the fact that it would involved too many compromises.
"For instance, up to 200,000 objects can be displayed in the game at once," the studio said. "Add to this our use of realistic, physics-based lighting technology and you really start to push the next-gen systems to the limits.
To sum up the post: "After thorough internal testing, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to leave past-gen systems behind and release Dying Light exclusively on the next-gen consoles and PC. Put simply, older consoles just couldn't run the game and stay true to the core vision of Dying Light at the same time."
