The 48th Annual CMA Awards are set to take place on Wednesday, Nov. 5 on ABC. With the country music award show quickly approaching, one of CMA's New Artist of the Year nominees, Kip Moore, is giving an inside look at what has made him musically who he is today. Find out what Kip's favorite concert ever was and more.
Kip is up for the New Artist award against Brett Eldredge, who sings "Mean to Me," Cole Swindell, who sings "Hope You Get Lonely Tonight," Brandy Clarke, who wrote "You Better Dig Two" for The Band Perry and Thomas Rhett, who sings "It Goes Like This."
"We have an outstanding group of nominees this year in the new artist category. They are all undeniably talented and deserving, but what really strikes me as I look at the list is that they are all accomplished songwriters with huge hit records to their credit," CMA chief executive officer Sarah Trahern told The Tennessean. "That speaks volumes about the depth of talent and creativity this group brings to the format and is very promising for the future."
So what makes the Georgia native tick? The 34-year-old singer told People all about his upbringing and his favorite firsts in honor of the upcoming awards show.
The "Something' Bout A Truck" singer revealed that when it comes to his favorite concert, it is a tie between Bruce Springsteen and Garth Brooks. "That's a toss-up between Bruce Springsteen and Garth. I've seen Bruce six times and I saw Garth probably three years ago," Kip told People.
"They know how to pull an audience into their world-and that's a lot more difficult than it sounds. With them it's effortless and you feel like you are in a living room watching their show."
As for his first concert, the "Hey Pretty Girl" singer said it was The Allman Brothers in Albany, Georgia. "I was in seventh grade and couldn't see over the people so I had to stand on my chair. The people behind me were yelling 'Sit down!' but I wanted to see them so bad, I stayed on my chair," he told the publication. "I remember being completely blown away, thinking how cool it was and how cool it would be to be able to do that every night."
Kip also revealed his favorite pre-show music, which usually consists of Bruce Springsteen songs, and his most recent song purchase, which is the Coldplay album, Ghost Stories.
Tune in to ABC on Wednesday night to see who takes home the award for New Artist of the Year.
