The Cleveland Browns are 5-3, and there's talk of them making the NFL playoffs. This season was supposed to be all about Josh Gordon, Ben Tate and Johnny Manziel, but instead it's been about Brian Hoyer, Terrence West and Travis Benjamin. Rumours are suggesting the Browns have told their whole roster, "get us to the playoffs, and we'll consider trading you." Meaning the likes of Gordon and Manziel may only be around this season, with the Browns considering a trade like the one they made involving Trent Richardson a little over a year ago. What will happen in the rest of 2014? Only time will tell, but it's looking interesting.
Coach Mike Pettine is more than happy with West and Hoyer, and seems less bothered about Tate and Manziel, prompting rumours that they could be traded. His post-game interview revealed all.
On West he said, "He played well. That was a point of emphasis this week, was to ramp him up a little bit. He had a real good week of practice and he ran tough. There were some plays that were blocked for 1 or 2 (yards) that he ran for 5 or 6." When talking about both RB, he continued "We talk about the competition that we have, and we want to settle into a two-back rotation. We thought those two had earned it. Terrance had his best week of practice and that merited the number of plays he was in there." He concluded, talking about Hoyer, saying, "He made that play to Miles on third and long, and he really got sharp then. . . He made the plays when he had to."
Will Pettine keep his new stars around, and then will he decide to trade the big-named, troubled ones?
