Aaron Sorkin's critically acclaimed HBO political drama, The Newsroom, returns for season 3. In the final episodes, cast-members Jeff Daniels, Olivia Munn, Jane Fonda, and Emily Mortimer return to their coveted roles to tell the breaking news and give their story a bit of closure.
As we previously mentioned, The Newsroom centers on the ACN cable news team as they struggle to keep their their personal beliefs from mixing with their professional lives. With their journalistic integrity compromised, is there any way the news team can jump back and recover their prominence again? Now that they are engaged, can Will MacAvoy (Daniels) and MacKenzie McHale (Mortimer) make it down the aisle as their wedding date looms closer?
Here are five reasons why we're excited to see the third season of The Newsroom.
5) He Has Such A Way With Words
Audiences know Sorkin is such a wordsmith, especially with his films such The Social Network and TV dramas, including The West Wing. Even the first episode had a promising performance with Daniels, which earned him a well deserved Emmy. I can't wait to see another riveting monologue.
4) The Rise of Charlie Skinner
Promising a great season for Sam Waterston's character, Daniels tells TV Line, "The second half, in particular. He's got some incredible scenes that have to deal with that...B.J. Novak, who also is involved in the storyline, did a great job."
3) Jane Fonda
The Barbarella actress just rules the screen when she enters the room as Leona Lansing, the CEO of Atlantic World Media. Explaining how Leona is based on her ex Ted Turner, the founder of CNN, the Monster In Law actress tells the Huffington Post, "Being with Ted for 10 years, it helps me feel very comfortable in that environment. I know what it looks like. I know what it feels like -- it doesn't intimidate me. So, it did help. Even though my character is not like Ted or like Rupert. It's somewhere in between."
2) Jim and Maggie
Maggie (Alison Pill) was in a such a bad place after the second season. Has she recovered from the tragic events in Africa. Will Maggie and Jim (John Gallagher Jr.) finally get together?
1) Each Episode Is Integral
Munn teases to Rolling Stone, "I got to one part and I just...I literally threw the script down, jumped out of bed and screamed! It was so intense - you know, 'Oh my god, Aaron went there. Wow.' So whatever disappointment we may have had over the fact that the series only played for three seasons and was now ending, it was balanced out by just being so excited over each new script that we got."
Season 3 of The Newsroom begins November 9, at 9pm. Readers, are you excited to see the final season?
