It looks like Matt Damon's bestie, Ben Affleck, might have just let some major casting new slip. During an appearance to promote the friends project, Project Greenlight, the Superman Vs. Batman star either accidentally or intentionally revealed that Damon would be reprising his role as Jason Bourne in the Bourne film franchise.
Affleck spoke to E! News during the event for their HBO series where he let the casting news slip.
"Well, [Damon's] going to be doing a Bourne movie next fall when I'm just completely lost any semblance of physical fitness. So...," the star explained.
While Matt wasn't the one to reveal the news, he did confirm it to the news site when asked to clarify. Rumors began making their way around about the casting earlier this summer, and it seemed that the only thing Matt needed to board the Bourne ship again was for director Paul Greengress to be attached to the film.
Damon also revealed some details such as when fans can expect the film to hit theaters.
"Yes, next year," Damon explained. "It'll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that's all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes."
It seems that Greengrass was the one holding up the movie this whole time, as he told Deadline last year that he wasn't planning on making anymore Bourne movies.
"In the end I felt I had given it my all in two films I'm very proud of and didn't want to make another if I didn't believe it could be as good if not better," he told the site. "I couldn't come up with an idea, and the business reality of franchise is that when a studio has a Bourne, they're obliged to make one every couple of years. I discovered in my heart I didn't have another one in me."
But it seems that he changed his mind and Hollywood is definitely going to thank him when the new film hits theaters in two years.
