Get your hot chocolate with cinnamon ready because it's that time again where we recap the latest episode of Once Upon a Time. In this week's episode, viewers got to learn the backstory of the Snow Queen and find out how she ended up in the magical urn, as well as how Emma comes into her powers.
In flashbacks, viewers get to see the early days of the Snow Queen, aka Ingrid, as she bonds with her two sisters. The sisters seem to be close when they are younger but as Ingrid's ice powers emerge, it starts to cause a rift between her and her siblings.
Like in the film Frozen, which this storyline is based off of, Ingrid hides herself away as to not hurt anybody with her ice powers. She becomes secluded and lonely as her power grows and ends up missing out on memorable experiences in her family's lives such as parties and romances.
Frozen fans also got to see the appearance of the Duke of Weaselton, who Ingrid's sister Helga ends up falling for.
When Ingrid's powers seem to get the best of her, she tries to run away but with the help of her sister's they head to Mist Haven instead to seek out the help of Rumpelstilkstin, thinking that maybe he can take the magical powers away from her.
In the Storybrooke of the present, viewers see Emma and Elsa plan to capture the Snow Queen through the use of Emma's magic, which has been growing stronger. The two blondes stumble upon Ingrid in the clock tower, and she is captured without much of a struggle, making us think that she's up to something.
As Emma questions her in the sheriff's office, Ingrid begins putting doubts into Emma's head about how her family feels about her new powers. The conversation gets pretty heated, which is exactly what the Snow Queen wants. Emma, so consumed by her magic, blows a hole through the side of the sheriff station and Ingrid escapes.
During the flashback, when the three sisters finally reach Mist Haven, aka the Enchanted Forest, and seek out Rumpelstiltskin, he gives Ingrid two important items to help her conceal her magic. First, he gives her a pair of gloves and then the urn, which conceals magical creatures. Yes, it's the very same urn that viewers saw her emerge from at the beginning of the season.
With the gifts, the sister's travel back to Arendelle and get back to their everyday lives. However, when the Duke of Weaseltown comes onto Ingrid, she is forced to use her magic on him. He then runs to Helga to tell his girlfriend a lie about Ingrid, saying that she is the one that tried to come onto him. However, the sister sees right through his story and takes Ingrid's side.
The Duke, now bent out of shape, tells the sisters that he is going to expose Ingrid's magic to the world. Out of fear, Ingrid uses her powers to try to stop him but she ends up turning her sister Helga into an ice sculpture instead.
When Gerta comes upon Ingrid crying over Helga's body, she turns on her sister, calling her a monster and then traps her inside the urn so that she can be of no harm to anyone else.
Gerta, who becomes Anna and Elsa's mom, then goes to the trolls to try to fix things in Arendelle, asking for the magical creatures to erase any memory or mention of Ingrid and Helga in any of the inhabitances minds.
In other side news from this episode, we finally get to see Robin Hood give in to his true feelings for Regina, as he can't seem to stay away from her, despite her wanting him to. In the end, he gives in and kisses her in a passionate embrace.
Viewers also get to see some fan favorites make appearances as Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty show up at Snow White's Mommy and me class. While it's good to see them, it just makes us miss when they had more important roles on the series.
Also, Henry starts his new job at his Grandpa's, aka Mr. Gold's, pawn show, which we are sure is going to be very crucial in this season's storyline.
