Starting on Sunday, Mark-Paul Gosselaar will be heading to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. The Saved by the Bell alum will be a multi-episode guest star on the series and will play evil twins. Before his first appearance on the crime show, Mark-Paul is sharing what it's like to play the villain.

When CSI's all-new episode airs on Sunday, Mark-Paul will be appearing as death row inmate Jared Briscoe and his twin brother, Paul Winthrop. Jared is known as the Gig Harbor Killer while Paul is an upstanding citizen in the community. Despite the fact that the obvious villain between the two twins is Jared, this season of the crime show will explore if Paul is really the sociopath that should be behind bars.

"Playing a really terrible character - much less two - is a weird amount of fun. It's great to just throw it out there. There's certainly no relatability on my end," Mark-Paul told TV Guide about his new role. "You read about these kinds of people in the news, but you don't come across them in life. To play them is one thing, to understand them is another."

The 40-year-old actor just wrapped his final season on the lawyer series Franklin & Bash, which was just canceled by TNT, and his CSI characters are the exact opposite of what he usually plays. The NYPD Blue alum is usually on the right side of the law, so how did he get into character to portray such twisted villains?

"I usually try to find something in a villain character that makes him human, but not with these two guys. I don't even try. Jared and Paul feel a bit disposable in the sense that they're only there to enhance the big product, the CSI franchise," he explained to the publication. "There's nothing about them that the audience should like. I'd prefer they be hated - and I'm sure the writers and producers would prefer that, too."

Despite the creepy nature of his two characters, Mark-Paul revealed that he hasn't had any nightmares or thoughts about the villainous nature of his characters off set. "Nah. It's probably a release for me. I go on set, and I get to take out all my aggressions on the victims and on Ted. The only thing I take back from this are probably the tattoos they put on me because they're kind of a pain in the ass to take off," the actor said in an interview with Yahoo! TV.
