The Cleveland Browns have battled the Brian Hoyer and Johnny Manziel saga for too long, and it seems that they're about ready to make up their minds for good. Hoyer can teat the free agent market in 2015 unless he signs a new contract. But it's believed there are concerns, as he wants big money Mike Pettine and Co. aren't prepared to pay, meaning Manziel will finally get the starting QB job.
Rumours emerged yesterday, Nov. 16, that their opponents the Houston Texans and their OC Bill O'Brien, could try and tempt Hoyer to sign with them. The Browns are slowly making their minds up, but it's likely they will see how Josh Gordon performs with Hoyer upon his return next week.
Hoyer has asked for elite quarterback money, but with Manziel locked down for another three years and Hoyer inconsistent, will the Browns want to keep them around? Yesterday's reports suggested that the Texans and their OC would like to work with Hoyer again, and supposedly he feels the same way.
Would they bring him in with other QB already on the roster? Possibly, but the pair could find a new team next season, looking to implement their own style and to use their experience to help a struggling team.
The Browns will welcome Gordon back next week, and all eyes will be on how he and Hoyer link up. If their partnership seems better than the previous Gordon-QB ones, then Cleveland could quickly change their tune and offer him the money he seeks. But if not, then expect the glamorous pairing of Manziel and Gordon to take the field together sooner or later.
