The members of One Direction took to Universal Studios earlier today to perform on the Today show. However while band member Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Niall Horan belted their hit songs out on stage, Zayn Malik was nowhere to be found. The four members were on hand to talk about their new album, Four, which is being released today, but one of the core five was unfortunately unable to make it to the performance.

According to E! News, the star had some belly problems and was sadly not able to be at the show.

"He's got a tummy bug, so he's not very well," Liam explained on the show. "We only found out this morning so we're really sad, he is as well, that he can't be here for our album release... It's still going to be a great day, I'm sure."

But we are sure that Zayn is getting better as we speak, as he has received an outpouring of "Get Well Soon" messages, even having the #GetWellSoonZayn hashtag to trend worldwide on Twitter.

The guys took to the Today show stage to perform some of their greatest hits, "What Makes You Beautiful," "Best Song Ever," and "Little Things," as well as new song "Steal My Girl."

In between songs, the guys sat down with Matt Lauer to talk about their new album, telling him that this is the most sonically different record that they have put out.

"[We've] tried to make our music move with us a little bit, as we've gotten a little bit older and each album gets a little bit older," Louis stated.

Harry echoed Tomlinson's sentiments saying, "I think this is the album we're most proud of," telling the Today show host, "It's exciting and nervous at the same time."
