With the anticipation around Star Wars: The Force Awakens' 2015 release date approaching, but there's still plenty of excitement around the spinoff and standalone projects that Disney announced this year. While we've talked about possible Obi-Wan Kenobi, Han Solo, Boba Fett and Yoda movie projects, this week another popular character got some standalone speculation. During his Reddit AMA, director A.J. Edwards revealed that he might be taking on a Mace Windu film, based on the Samuel L. Jackson character from the prequel trilogy.
A simple question concerning whether or Edwards was in talks to direct one of the spinoff movies was answered by some cool information.
"Talking about it, not able to say a lot yet," he said, but then immediately spilled the beans saying, "It will focus on Mace Windu."
It's definitely pretty odd that Edwards said he couldn't say much, but then spoiled the surprise of the project-but we're cool with it!
Plus, it could simply be a joke, which is disappointing but definitely a great way to catch some attention from the now-trending director.
What do you think of this news? Are you hoping it isn't a joke and that we get a Mac Windu movie or would you prefer another character? Let us know in the comments section below!
