When Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour put Kim Kardashian and Kanye West on the cover of her magazine in April she expected everything that came with it, controversy and all.
"The first celebrity that I put on the cover of Vogue was Madonna and that was considered completely controversial at that time, too," she said, according to Fashionista.
The April cover even sported a hashtag, #worldsmosttalkedaboutcouple, which is something that is rare for the glamorous Vogue. But what Wintour said Monday, Nov. 17, at the Metropolitan Museum of New York with CNN journalist Alina Cho may or may not shock you.
"Now she's part of the establishment. I think if we just remain deeply tasteful and just put deeply tasteful people on the cover, it would be a rather boring magazine! Nobody would talk about us," Wintour said. "It's very important that people do talk about us."
In light of the back handed compliment made by the most sought out magazine editor in the world, it's a fact that Kardashian was honored to be on the cover as her and daughter North West dressed as Anna Wintour and Andre Leon Talley for Halloween!
The Paper magazine star even stated that Wintour was a pivotal part in helping name her daughter North West, stating that Winour believed the name was "genius"
So what does the fashion icon think of Kim's baby sister Kendall Jenner breaking into the fashion world?
"What a fantastic decision that was! They have a wonderful brand that's very traditional American, and they decided they want to shake it up and reach a different audience," Wintour said. "Now and again one has to do things like that. I think it's partly of the excitement of being a journalist. I hope another Kim Kardashian comes along this year!
