Creed singer Scott Stapp released a 15-minute-long confessional to his fans via Facebook today (Nov. 26) to reveal that he is a victim of "financial theft" and he is now homeless and broke.
"Right now I'm living in a Holiday Inn, by the grace of God, because there's been a couple of weeks I had to live in my truck," the 41-year-old singer said.
In the beginning of his video, he puts the rumors to rest that he is on drugs and dead, however, dealing with some pretty heavy financial hardships.
"About eight weeks ago, I began an audit of not only my record company but my personal finances," Stapp explained. "During the course of that audit a lot of things were uncovered. A lot of money was stolen from me or royalties not paid."
Stapp is the founding member of the rock band Creed, which he has received several awards, including a Grammy Award for the song "With Arms Wide Open." But even with an award at the highest honor he is still faced with debilitating attacks from others.
"[Those] who have taken advantage and stolen" from the artist, are "trying to discredit me, slander me, and I've even been threatened that if I went public like I'm doing right now, that any impropriety I've done in the past these individuals can get their hands on to humiliate and embarrass me and try to ruin my credibility."
The rocker's estranged wife Jaclyn recently told the Miami Herald that she is seeking a divorce against Stapp. Jacklyn said her husband disappeared from their home in early October and even said that he was doing crystal meth and steroids. But from Stapp's video, these accusations are vicious forms of attacks and he has done nothing but give himself to Christ.
"I just pray for them and forgive them," he said about the ones that have stolen from and spread rumors about him.
