We knew AMC's The Walking Dead was based on something real! Turns out it is taken from the story of a fan who bit a paramedic at a One Direction concert! Okay, not really, but the second part seriously happened. According to reports, during a concert in Manchester, a fan fell to the ground and reacted in a way we really only see on the acclaimed AMC series... especially this past Sunday's mid-season finale! The Mirror reports that Kerry Anne Wilde, 27-years-old, took her daughter to the 1D concert back in May (which totally nixes our mid-season finale thought). During the show she was hit in the head (from... a crowd surfer? Obsessed teen? Obsessed mother?) and knocked to the ground. As the paramedics came to her aid, Wilde reportedly bit one of them right on their shoulder.
Afterwards, the young mother admitted to having "failed in her duty as a role model" and also to assulting the paramedic –– but not because of bath salts, so don't worry. As a penalty, she was just required to spend 12 weeks in prison, with a suspension of one year's time.
As for the one who was bit? Well, they're getting something –– £200, which is roughly $314.16.
PopCrush notes that typically, in cases such as this (suspended sentences), should the defendant not commit another crime in whatever period be decided, jail time is often discharged.
From The Mirror, Detective Constable Dave Berry claimed that he hopes this aforementioned incident and sentence "has acted as a sobering warning for Wilde." He then added, "The NHS takes a zero tolerance approach to abuse and assaults on its staff, a stance fully supposed by the police and we will work with all partners to ensure anyone who attacks members of the emergency services is brought to justice."
So there you have it, One Direction fans. Don't go biting paramedics!
