Mark Wahlberg wants his 1988 conviction erased from the record, 26 years after beating a man in an attempt to steal alcohol outside a convenience store.

The 43-year-old actor and father of four has filed an application with the Massachusetts Board of Pardons on Nov.26 pretty much asking for a clean slate from an incident that happened over a quarter of a century ago.

"I am deeply sorry for the actions that I took on the night of April 8, 1988, as well as for any lasting damage that I may have caused the victims," Wahlberg wrote in his pardon application according to New England Cable News. "Since that time, I have dedicated myself to becoming a better person and citizen so that I can be a role model to my children and others."

The Lone Survivor star got into trouble with the Boston Police Department over 20 times in his youth. At age 16, Wahlberg approached a middle-aged Vietnamese man on the street and, using a wooden stick, knocked him unconscious while also striking a the man and leaving him permanently blind, according to Daily Mail.

The Ted 2 actor wants people to see that he is a different person since his younger days, "I have not engaged in philanthropic efforts in order to make people forget about my past," he said in his pardon application. "To the contrary, I want people to remember my past so that I can serve as an example of how lives can be turned around and how people can be redeemed."

The younger brother of New Kids on the Block star Donnie Wahlberg continued, saying, "Receiving a pardon would be a formal recognition that I am not the same person that I was on the night of April 8, 1988," he explained. "It would be a formal recognition that someone like me can receive official public redemption if he devotes himself to personal improvement and a life of good works."
