The New York Yankees knew it'd be a tough job to rebuild after Derek Jeter retired, but they've started, and in drastic fashion too. They have acquired both Andrew Miller and Didi Gregorius, with the latter seen as the out-and-out replacement for their famous shortstop. The Yankees are prepared to spend big money in order to reshuffle their roster in to a World Series winning one. Will these moves be of any benefit to their hopes?

The 24-year-old shortstop arrived in a 3-team trade, and the Yankees will be hoping the young man can be the long-lasting replacement in a position they've had no reason to deal with for so long.
Before the trade was done, Brian Cashman of the Yankees admitted things hadn't been easy. He explained, "That's been difficult. It is not easy, shortstop. It is not a plentiful market. It is very thin. We are not the only club looking for a shortstop, so it makes it even more difficult. This offseason, I feel like we have a lot more areas to address. That means I am open to a lot more ways to solve the problems and improve the club."
Miller will provide a huge boost to their pitching, while Didi will upgrade their offense, improve their age-range and much, much more. Baring in mind the fact that many players improve once a Yankee, these moves could prove to be two of the smartest of the winter deals.
However, things must've changed rapidly, with these two moves being made, and one can wonder, are these Yankees-calibre of players?
