Once Upon a Time is all-new tonight so grab your hot chocolate with cinnamon and prepare for the biggest battle in Storybrooke's history. The spell of shattered sight is about to make landfall and things are about to get crazy! As Regina, Mary Margaret and David go head-to-head with each other, Elsa and Emma try to find a way to reverse the spell before one of their own is caught in the crossfire.
Viewers are treated to a lot of backstory this episode, and we are thinking it's about time some of our questions get answered. Not only are we treated to some more clips of a young Emma, as she is being taken care of in Ingrid's foster home, but we also get to see one of Ingrid's first encounters with a dimwit psychic in New York City.
Despite the show's dramatic nature, during this episode there is a ton of campy goodness, which we couldn't help but LOL over.
While the spell of shattered sight might be turning the townsfolk of the magical town against one another, it does bring with it some comic relief for us as the viewer. We love Snow and Charming's witty one-liners back and forth as they take digs at one another. However, things start to get real when Kristoff lays his claws into Anna, telling her that his haircut isn't the only bad decision that he regrets making during his life.
With his nasty remarks, Anna decides to come up with a plan to get him back to normal and reserve the Snow Queens awful spell. However, it seems that the only way to put a stop to the madness is to kill the Snow Queen.
Emma and Elsa decide that they will take on the task of killing the Snow Queen knowing that they are the only ones with magical powers that are equal to hers. However, the yellow bracelets that Ingrid tied on their wrists prevent them from doing her any bodily harm. As they try to get the bracelets off they discover that only an act of hate can get rid of them, so they go to find the evilest person they know to take them off, Regina.
Regina, now under the spell of shattered sight, is viler than ever and tries to kill Emma and Elsa with a fireball, but in the process ends up just taking their yellow bracelets off, which is what they wanted in the first place. After that stage of their plan is complete they go to find the Snow Queen to finish her off.
In flashbacks we see Ingrid and Emma bond from the first day she is at the foster home, to when she reveals that she is going to adopt by her. However, when Ingrid tries to show Emma that she has magic in her, she ends up running away to frightened to face the truth.
When the two met up years later in Storybrooke at the ice cream shop, this is the exact moment when Ingrid steals away Emma's memories of her. However, she has them concealed in a purple crystal and plans on giving them back to Emma later in the episode to convince Emma not to kill her.
Kristoff, so fed up with the curse of shattered sight and Anna, wants to leave Storybrooke, and tries to find the portal that took him to this town from Arendelle. Anna follows him to the beach and tries to stop him from leaving, but when her words don't work, she ends up knocking him out with a wine bottle that she found on the beach. Unbeknownst to her, the message that her parents wrote to her and Elsa was in the bottle.
As Emma and Elsa go to hurt the Snow Queen and to stop the spell, Anna shows up and reads the letter that she found. In it, Anna and Elsa mother reveals that she was wrong for what she did to Ingrid and for trying to find a cure for Elsa's magic. She also explains that she stole the memories of her sister Ingrid from the people of Arendelle. The letter gives directions on how the sisters are to find the urn that she trapped Ingrid in, release her and bring the memories back to the people of Arendelle.
The letter also has a crystal attached to it, and when Ingrid touches it it brings back all the lovely memories of her time spend with her sisters.
Realizing that Ingrid has caused all the townsfolk of Stroybrooke such grief, she becomes so regretful of what she has done, because of this she decides to reverse the spell but knows that to do so she will have to sacrifice herself in the process. Before she evaporates into thin air, she gives Emma and Elsa their memories of her back and then is gone.
At the end of the episode, as everyone is woken up from the spell, Elsa and Anna plan on leaving Storybrooke to go back to Arendelle to give everyone back their memories of Ingrid just like their mother told them too.
Next week we will see the conclusion of the Frozen storyline and the introduction of some truly bad villains including Cruella De Vil, Ursula, and the return of Maleficent.
