Royalty will visit Brooklyn today in a couple of forms. Prince William, Duke of Cambridge and his wife Duchess Kate Middleton will head to Barclays Center tonight, Mon. Dec 8, to watch the Brooklyn Nets take on NBA royalty in "King" LeBron James and his Cleveland Cavaliers. The normally unflappable King James, it seems, is a little bit awed by the guests, too, calling it a "huge honor" to be in attendance with the royal couple, who are expecting their second child, a sibling to baby Prince George, in a matter of months.
As ESPN report, "It's an honor," James told gathered media as his team practiced in New York City ahead of the Brooklyn bout. "It's a huge honor. The stuff that you read about, people like them are only in books growing up. And to hear that they're coming to town to see me play and they want to see me do what I do best, it's a huge honor."
The royal couple are in town to promote their anti-poaching wildlife charity, and will get to see some sights while they're at it, as MStars News has reported, including Prince William meeting with US President Barack Obama in Washington DC and hanging out with Hilary and Chelsea Clinton.
King James, though, sounds impressed by having the high profile royals in Brooklyn to witness him play, saying that the experience tops out just about every other basketball fan whose witnessed him play. Even though James has had President Obama watch him as well – "the President of the United States, that was pretty huge" – Will and Kate are even getting play at home. "To have those two," said James, "to say they were traveling here and one of the things that they wanted to do was see me play, it's a pretty big deal in my household."
As for whether or not he'll get to meet them, "I would like to," said James. "They are going to be at the game so I hopefully I get the opportunity to interact with them a little bit. We'll see what happens."
As The Washington Post's Cindy Boren points out they certainly have a lot in common beyond being royalty, as they've both been busy expanding their families. Says Boren, "Maybe they can talk about babies" as LeBron and his wife Savannah welcomed their third child, daughter Zhuri at the end of October, while Duchess Kate "is expecting the royal couple's second next spring."

It's also been mooted that perhaps LeBron will use the opportunity to speak out against the Eric Garner decision by wearing a similar "I Can't Breathe" t-shirt to the one Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose warmed up in before the Bulls played Golden State on Saturday.

LeBron was certainly in favor of the T-shirt, reports the New York Daily News, "It was spectacular," they report James as saying "I loved it. I'm looking for one." As for whether he could wear an "I Can't Breathe" T-shirt while the world and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge look on, CBS report James as saying "it's possible." If he did, it's not the first time LeBron has spoken out about race politics; in addition to his Trayvon Martin tribute with his former Miami Heat teammates, LeBron recently posted a Michael Brown and Trayvon illustration to his Instagram, commenting on the decision not to indict Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson for the shooting of teenager Brown.
As a society how do we do better and stop things like this happening time after time!! I'm so sorry to these families. Violence is not the answer people. Retaliation isn't the solution as well. #PrayersUpToTheFamilies #WeHaveToDoBetter A photo posted by LeBron James (@kingjames) on Nov 11, 2014 at 7:06pm PST
What do you think: should LeBron use this platform in front of the royal family to make a timely point about race in America? Do you think he will go ahead with it?
