In the eight short weeks since the Los Angeles Dodgers' season ended with a loss to the St. Louis Cardinals in the National League Division Series, Dodgers superstar rightfielder Yasiel Puig has been up to quite a lot. There was the tragic death of fellow young outfielder Oscar Taveras; the glamorous trip to Japan to represent MLB in a series of international exhibitions; the happy day he celebrated his sister's birthday; the REALLY happy day he got a new hat and t-shirt.
But this week took the cake...probably because it involved a cake.
Puig celebrated his 24th birthday on Sunday, and the weekend proved busy for his party-hopping, selfie-stuffed Instagram account, which is always good for innocent laughs and jealous stares alike.
What did Yasiel Puig do this week?
First, he snapped this photo from a Los Angeles rooftop, which isn't exactly a bad place to spend a Monday night. Then he posed for a shot in front of a elaborate ice scultpure while wearing pants with the word "POPULAR" stretched acorss his crotch. And finally came Puig's trip to Florida, where a few lucky fans had a chance to meet the ballpalyer, through a Vita Water promotion. Puig, of course, Instagramed the annoucement.
"No autographs please," read a disclaimer at the bottom of the ad.
The next day Sony announced Puig would grace the cover of MLB The Show 2015, prompting Puig to post a picture of the cover that recieved more than 30,000 likes.
And only then, after all that, did Puig get to celebrate his birthday. Of course he did it in style, with a mansion-based family party and some red carpet photos, all topped off by a packed-out club concert.
The dude knows how to live.
Here's to next week in the Wonderful Life of Yasiel Puig.
