Paul Bettany has voiced Tony Stark's personal AI, J.A.R.V.I.S., for multiple Iron Man films and The Avengers. But in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Bettany will appear on screen as the entity known as Vision.
Marvel Studios made the announcement almost one year ago, but details about the role are extremely scarce. And unfortunately, Bettany can't and won't say anything about it. "It's still a secret," he told The Hollywood Reporter. I think all will be revealed very shortly. It's a secret I've kept for about three years, which is really hard, especially with three kids. I'm contractually obliged not to talk about it. J.A.R.V.I.S will be there and so will The Vision. But I simply can't tell you any more."
Bettany has known the truth for three years, but fans will have to wait longer to find out about the character's role in The Avengers 2. Many have speculated that J.A.R.V.I.S. somehow becomes Vision, which would be a major change from the character's comic book origin. Bettany's comments don't really seem to indicate if this is true or not, as the two characters could be in the film independently or as one entity.
