After Sony had a strange hacking occurrence earlier this month, it looks like another form of entertainment has fallen victim to the mysterious strain of hackers out there. The online video gaming networks Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, which correspond with their respective consoles, were down earlier this morning, with a group of hackers taking credit for the crash. While Xbox Live is back up and running as of this afternoon, PlayStation Network is still down, which is pretty unfortunate for post-Christmas gaming.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Sony's PlayStation support team released as statement regarding the problems.

"We are aware that some users are experiencing difficulty logging into the PSN," the support site's message stated. "We will update this article with any changes that occur in regards to this issue. Thank you for your patience."

Microsoft posted a similar message:

Apparently, the hacker group "Lizard Squad" took credit for the outages on Twitter, but soon deleted the Tweet that claimed they were responsible.

10,000 [retweets] and we will stop smacking #Xbox and #PSN offline," the deleted post read.
